The envoy to Yamamah
Yamamah, early in Abu Bakr's caliphate, when Musaylimah had declared himself a prophet and much of his tribe had followed him.

After the Prophet ﷺ died, Musaylimah pressed his claim to prophethood further among his people in Yamamah. Habib ibn Zayd, a young Ansari of Khazraj and a son of Umm Ammarah, was among those sent to answer him.
Musaylimah put a question to him: did he testify that Muhammad ﷺ was the messenger of Allah? Habib said that he did.
Then Musaylimah asked whether he testified the same of him. Habib refused.
The accounts describe the question and the refusal being repeated, Habib affirming the Prophet ﷺ each time and declining to say the same of the man in front of him, until Musaylimah had him killed for it.
The historians do not agree on every detail of how that killing was carried out, and none of it is repeated here beyond that fact.
His mother, Umm Ammarah, was herself at Yamamah around this time; her own record notes that a son of hers was killed there.
