Before Nahawand
An-Nu'man ibn Muqarrin was among the leaders of Muzaynah who brought their tribe into Islam. He went on to take part in the campaigns fought against the Ridda movements after the Prophet ﷺ died — named here, in line with this dataset's approach to that period, without the specifics being retold.
Under Umar he rose to positions of military command in the campaigns against the Persian empire in Iraq and beyond.
Nahawand
Umar gave him command of the army sent to meet a large Persian force gathering at Nahawand, one of the decisive engagements of the Persian conquests.
