The Ansar
الأنصار
The Helpers — the people of Madinah who received the emigrants and shared what they had with them.
The Ansar were the Muslims of Madinah, from the tribes of Aws and Khazraj. When the Muhajirun arrived with nothing, the Ansar took them into their homes and their livelihoods. The pairing of the two groups is one of the defining features of early Madinah, and the name Ansar — Helpers — was given to them for exactly that.
The Ansar were a large group. SahabaMate currently holds entries for a small number of them.
